Ford Celebrates 3rd Global Week of Caring

Determined to Make a Difference, Ford Philippines Shifts its Social Responsibility Campaigns into High Gear

The entire Ford family from all over the world showed that a responsible corporate citizen is made up of socially responsible individuals actively striving to make society better. From September 6 to 14, more than 180 Ford Philippines volunteers joined forces with Ford volunteers around the world, working in unison to provide compassionate service and practical assistance to deserving communities to mark the 3rd Annual Global Week of Caring. Ford Philippines partnered with Gawad Kalinga (GK) in order to provide shelter and basic services, including a deep well and books for the Day Care to the underprivileged residents of the nearby community of GK Village, Los Baños, Laguna.

The week started with Ford’s Corporate Citizenship Pillar mobilizing its own partners to volunteer their help in the construction of houses in the GK Village. On the same day, Ford provided the same GK Village with an additional deep well in project aptly named ‘Poso mo mula sa puso ko’ (A deep well for you from my heart). Ford partners gave GK village a gift that keeps on giving when they shared book donations to the GK Daycare center sowing the seeds of love for reading among the kids.

Later in the week, Ford managers from the different departments and their staff got their hands dirty all in the name of environmental conservation by planting trees within the Ford Plant premises. The next day they extended free medical and dental services to more than 600 residents of nearby Caingin, Santa Rosa City.

The “Week of Caring” culminated in “Go ‘LoCo2’ (Low Carbon diet for a healthy lifestyle)”, an exhibit and lecture for Ford employees conducted by the KLIMA Climate Change Center, a 2006 Ford Eco Grant grantee. The event was held to promote awareness among employees on global warming and harmful CO2 emissions. Ford displays this commitment internally as well by sharing the grantee project’s insights to its employees, increasing sensitivity to sustainabledevelopment.
