COLIN BRAUN POSTS FASTEST FIRST PRACTICE TIME IN KENTUCKY

COLIN BRAUN – No. 6 Con-way Freight Ford F-150 – “I think our first practice today went really good.  All these guys on the Con-way Freight Ford F-150 team have been working really hard here in the couple of weeks that we had off. They’ve been busting their tails and making our trucks a lot better.  We’ve had a lot of dates in the wind tunnel and they’ve been working extremely hard so I think it kind of shows here the work they’ve been doing and it’s obviously been paying off.  We’re fast here and the truck is driving really good. My crew chief, Mike Beam, has done a really good job for us and I’m certainly excited.”

YOU FOUND A RHYTHM HERE PRETTY QUICK. “I think a lot of the success today is part of the great teammates that we have at Roush Fenway Racing.  I called Travis Kvapil before this weekend and talked to him about the race track.  I talked to Erik Darnell about it as well.  I just try to lean on my teammates as much as I can and watch the tapes, read through the reports from the last couple of years and just try to be as prepared as I can.  I think that pays off big time.”

TALK ABOUT RACING A FORD F-150 IN A FORD RACE. “I’m pretty excited that we can come out here on our No. 6 Con-way Freight Ford F-150 and race in a Ford sponsored race is a pretty cool deal.  I know that a Ford has never been in victory lane here at Kentucky when Ford has been a sponsor.  That would be great to put a Ford in victory lane here. We’re certainly going to try this weekend.”

WHERE IS YOUR COMFORT LEVEL IN THE TRUCK? “Right now, it’s pretty high. We’ve always been fast wherever we’ve gone. I thought we’ve always raced around other trucks pretty decent.  I’m certainly more and more comfortable every time we go out there. But I’m still trying to learn as much as I can from those veteran drivers and pick up as many tips and advice from those guys as I can.”

WHAT TYPE OF RACING WILL WE SEE TOMORROW NIGHT? “I think it’s going to be pretty intense.  I think it’s going to change a lot over the course of the race just because we’ve done most of our practice during the day.”
