CHAMPIONS LEAGUE TV DEBUT FOR CHAMPION CROSSOVER

New Ford Kuga - screen grab from TV Commercial.

BRENTWOOD, Essex, May 20, 2008 – The TV commercial for Ford's new crossover vehicle, the Ford Kuga, will be aired for the first time on 21 May to one of the largest TV audiences of the year.

Estimated to attract around 15 million viewers, the UEFA Champions League final between Chelsea and Manchester United on Wednesday, 21 May is the chosen spot. The new commercial will be shown at 20.32 on ITV and SKY Sports following the half-time whistle.

Called "Blank Canvas," the Ford Kuga commercial is the latest in a series of memorable campaigns produced by Ford's ad agency, Ogilvy. The theme is about design and why things look the way they do.

Appropriately, given Kuga's unique look, the campaign was based around the question "Who said we have to accept the ordinary?" The advertisement suggests what might happen if all design ideas could start with a black piece of canvas.

Featuring a catchy soundtrack from up-and-coming French singer Camille's latest album, the advertisement was directed by award-winning Danish director Nicolai Fuglsig. A passionate and colourful character, Fuglsig has a reputation for combining extraordinary images with an ability to tell an interesting story. He has already produced some remarkable work, like the Sony Bravia 'Balls' and Guinness 'Dominoes' TV commercials, and the Ford Kuga work is equally captivating.

The new Ford Kuga goes on sale from June 2008 and blends distinctive design, intelligent all-wheel-drive, and impressive on-and-off-road ability.
