CARL EDWARDS QUALIFIES SIXTH AT POCONO

CARL EDWARDS – No. 99 Aflac Ford Fusion (qualified 6th) – “We’re okay. I could’ve done a better job of just being conservative. That’s what we got. I’m hoping that’s a top-10. That would be fine. Five hundred miles. Jimmie laid an unbelievable lap down. I think if I had 15 shots at it I couldn’t run that right now. Bob [Osborne, crew chief] did a great job.”

MATT KENSETH – No. 17 DeWalt Ford Fusion (qualified 13th) – “The time is really good, but I did a terrible job – I missed turn one and I missed turn two. All I hit was turn three, so for the car to be that fast is encouraging. I just feel like I didn’t do those guys a very good job today. But the time is still good, and that’ll get us better than we expected. Our car has been pretty fast, so I’m excited about that.”

TRAVIS KVAPIL – No. 28 Dish Network Ford Fusion (qualified 23rd) – DO YOU THINK YOU HAVE A PRETTY GOOD CAR FOR SUNDAY? “I think so. I thought our test here went pretty well a couple of weeks ago. This is a brand-new car, and we’re really happy to have Dish Network on it. That’s pretty cool. We came back with some different variations from the test, and it didn’t really work out, so we kind of went back to where we had the car in the test session. I felt like, as a driver, I left some out there, for sure. I kind of messed up a little bit in turn one, and I messed up the tunnel turn pretty good, which cost us some time. The car is decent, the driver just didn’t do a good job qualifying. It’s tough here. It’s very line sensitive and you don’t know how much the heat has affected it, so I was a little conservative and just kind of messed up, but I feel pretty good about it for Sunday.”

DAVID RAGAN – No. 6 AAA Insurance Ford Fusion (qualified 30th) – “Just slow. Just late to the throttle. Felt like we were making gains on it during practice, and the track changed a little bit and we were just off, a little free. We’ll keep changing and working on the car tomorrow during practice and see if we can make it better.”

YOU’RE OFF TO A GOOD START THIS SEASON. IS THIS A GOOD TRACK FOR YOU? “Well, I have a fun time here, but statistics-wise it’s been a horrible track for me. Just in the two starts last year, I think we were mid-20s to -30s the two runs here. So, as far as the race track, I like the race track. It’s very unique. It’s fun. But, we’ve just been off, so hopefully during Happy Hour it’s going to be very important to make some gains on it and just try to see if we can get back to top-10, top-15 runs.”
