In 1986, he started his assignment at Ford, working in Body Engineering. During1989-1992, he attained the Master of Science grade for Advanced Automotive Engineering at the Loughborough University in the UK. After having worked for Ford Motor Company Product Development in Dearborn, he returned to Germany in 1994. He worked for 2 1/2 years as Supervisor for the Body Engineering Development for the Ford Focus; afterwards he had a one-year assignment as Manager Quality and In-cycle Action for the C-Segment in Saar Louis. In 1998, he was responsible for production quality in all European Ford Plants.
Starting in 1999, he was Chief Engineer for the development of the Ford C-MAX. From 2001-2002, he was Chief Engineer for the entire Ford C-Car range, and in June 2002 he took up his current assignment as C-Car Vehicle Line Director.
Gunnar lives in Leverkusen and is married with two children.
