MARCOS AMBROSE WINS AT THE GLEN FOR FIRST NASCAR NATIONWIDE VICTORY

Marcos Ambrose, driver of the No. 59 STP Ford Fusion, took the lead with four laps to go en route to winning the NASCAR Nationwide Series Zippo 200 at Watkins Glen International on Saturday. It was the first NASCAR victory for the former two-time Australian V8 Supercars champion. Matt Kenseth (third) David Ragan (ninth) and Brad Coleman (10th) also finished in the top 10.

MARCOS AMBROSE FAST AT WATKINS GLEN ON SATURDAY

Marcos Ambrose, driver of the No. 21 Little Debbie Ford Fusion, was fastest during Saturday’s first practice session and third fastest in Happy Hour. Ambrose will make his third career NASCAR Sprint Cup start tomorrow.

MAZDASPEED MOTORSPORTS 2008 MID-SEASON REVIEW

The 2008 race season started off on a high note, both on-track and off. An underdog win by the Castrol Syntec SpeedSource Mazda RX-8 team at the Rolex 24 at Daytona saw Mazda take its 22nd class win in the American 24-Hour classic. Less than a month later, all eyes turned to the unification of open wheel racing. While that was welcome news for race fans, it created a great deal of additional work for many organizations. Mazda was hit especially hard with four Mazda-specific series directly impacted, and has spent the past six months in rebuilding schedules for 2008 and 2009.

AUTOMOTIVE COMPONENTS HOLDINGS AND JOHNSON CONTROLS END MOU FOR SALE OF ACH SALINE PLANT

Ford Motor Company, Automotive Components Holdings, LLC and Johnson Controls, Inc. today announced termination of their Memorandum of Understanding for sale of the ACH interiors business and ACH’s Saline, Mich. plant to Johnson Controls.
