Global automotive industry leader, Ford, and Gogo enable travelers to stay in touch on the go-go
ITASCA, Ill., February 1, 2011 – Gogo® Inflight Internet, the world's leading provider of inflight connectivity, today announced a promotion with Ford Motor Company to offer travelers flying on Gogo-equipped aircraft complimentary access to Facebook for the month of February. Gogo’s airline partners participating in the promotion include AirTran Airways, Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, United Airlines, US Airways and Virgin America.
“Facebook continues to be the number one website visited by travelers using Gogo at 30,000 feet,” said Aircell Chief Revenue Officer, Jim Berrien. “Our commitment is to offer great inflight experiences to our users, and unique marketing opportunities to advertisers. We’re thrilled that an innovative marketer like Ford is providing this complimentary service as a way to enhance the traveler experience.”
Taking advantage of the promotion while in flight is easy. Once the plane has reached 10,000 feet and travelers are able to turn on personal electronic devices, they must select the Gogo wireless network, open a web browser and click on the Ford/Facebook banner.
"The Ford team is excited to be able to bring Facebook to Gogo Inflight Network users during the month of February," stated Alex Hultgren, Ford's Digital Media Manager. "Our groundbreaking reveal of the 2011 Explorer in July has proven that Social Media is an ideal platform for conversation and the sharing of videos and photos about our reinvented SUV."
With this innovative, rich media campaign, complimentary access to Facebook courtesy of Ford will enable travelers to keep in touch with their friends, family and relatives while traveling at 30,000 feet. The service is available to users on all WiFi enabled devices, including laptops, smartphones and PDAs.
