Ford Motor Company's Iconic Blue Oval Rises Above Yangon, Myanmar

YANGON, Myanmar, 24 June, 2013 – Ford Motor Company has raised its iconic blue oval more than twenty meters, or the height of a six-story building, above its new flagship dealer facility in the commercial center of Yangon, Myanmar.

Ford recently announced its market entry with exclusive dealer partner, Capital Automotive, and will be the first global automaker in Myanmar to offer complete automotive solutions, including a world-class showroom, sales, and aftersales services through certified service technicians, as well as full warranties on all new Ford vehicles.

The new dealership, which will accommodate a full lineup of global Ford vehicles, has been designed and built to Ford’s global standards. It will be officially opened in August.

"The Ford blue oval is a powerful symbol, recognized the world over as an icon of the company that first put the world on wheels,” said David Westerman, regional manager, Asia Pacific, Ford Export & Growth Operations, “In this same spirit, we are now working to build a solid foundation for Myanmar’s young automotive industry, and this sign represents the beginning.”

In addition to Ford’s plans to offer a full showroom and service facilities, the company is bringing in world-class training resources and technical experts to provide skills training for employee technicians, sales and service people.

Ford Heritage
This month, Ford Motor Company celebrated Ford Heritage Month, honoring the 110th anniversary of its founding and what would be the 150th birthday of its founder, Henry Ford. One hundred and ten years ago, on June 16, 1903, Henry Ford and 11 original investors signed incorporation papers to form Ford Motor Company, starting with a dream, USD$28,000 in cash, some blueprints and tools. Within the next century, the company would become a global giant, connecting people and communities and building industries around the world.

In line with its century old heritage of commitment to communities, Ford has also announced its plans to launch its Conservation and Environmental Grants program in Myanmar later this year.
