Ford Begins Producing 1.0-litre EcoBoost-Powered C-MAX and 7-Seat Grand C-MAX; Both Offer Industry-Best Efficiency

• Ford today began producing C-MAX and Grand C-MAX models powered by the award-winning 1.0-litre EcoBoost petrol engine at its plant in Valencia, Spain
• Vehicles deliver best-in-class fuel efficiency from both the 100 PS and 125 PS* versions of the 1.0-litre EcoBoost
• For both power versions, C-MAX achieves 5.1 l/100 km (55.4 mpg) and 117 g/km of CO₂; Grand C-MAX achieves 5.2 l/100 km (54.3 mpg) and 119 g/km
• Grand C-MAX will be the only European seven-seat passenger car on the market to be equipped with a 1.0-litre engine
• C-MAX and Grand C-MAX also for the first time feature SYNC in-car connectivity system with Emergency Assistance, Active City Stop, Lane Keeping Aid, Lane Departure Warning, Auto High Beam, Driver Alert and Traffic Sign Recognition

Valencia, Spain, Sept. 13, 2012 – The first Ford C-MAX and seven-seat Ford Grand C-MAX models powered by the acclaimed 1.0-litre EcoBoost began rolling off the production line today at Ford’s plant in Valencia, Spain.

Both the 100 PS and 125 PS versions of the 1.0-litre engine-equipped C-MAX and Grand C-MAX achieve best-in-class fuel efficiency and CO₂ emissions.

“The 1.0-litre EcoBoost has been a hit with critics and customers alike, so we’re very excited to offer the same combination of fuel efficiency and engine power in the C-MAX and the larger Grand C-MAX,” said Roelant de Waard, vice president, Marketing, Sales & Service, Ford of Europe. “It’s an industry exclusive to power a seven-seat vehicle with an engine this small and we think it will be a revelation for drivers who want fuel economy without sacrificing driving fun.”

The three-cylinder 1.0-litre EcoBoost petrol engine – the 2012 “International Engine of the Year” – combines turbocharging, direct fuel injection and variable valve timing to deliver the power of a larger engine with the fuel efficiency of a smaller engine.

The C-MAX 1.0-litre EcoBoost delivers 5.1 l/100 km (55.4 mpg) and 117 g/km CO₂ across both power outputs, while the Grand C-MAX achieves 5.2 l/100 km (54.3 mpg) and 119 g/km.

Ford of Europe recently announced that the new Ford B-MAX and Fiesta – both coming to market this year – as well as the upcoming new Ford Mondeo and EcoSport will offer the 1.0-litre EcoBoost.

This C-MAX and Grand C-MAX also will now offer Ford’s in-car connectivity system SYNC with Emergency Assistance; advanced driver assistance technologies including: Lane Keeping Aid, Lane Departure Warning, Auto High Beam, Driver Alert, Traffic Sign Recognition and Blind Spot Information System; Power Tailgate and new colour Burnished Glow.

Ford has sold more than 200,000 C-MAX and Grand C-MAX cars in Europe since the latest versions were introduced in 2010. This year the two models have claimed Ford’s largest share of the compact multi-activity vehicle segment since the original C-MAX went on sale in 2003.

By 2015, more than half of all vehicles Ford produces in Europe for the continent will be powered by EcoBoost engines, which are also available as 1.6-litre and 2.0-litre.
