ALL-NEW FIESTA HELPS FORD THAILAND MORE THAN DOUBLE SALES IN SEPTEMBER

  • Exceptional demand for the all-new Ford Fiesta, plus strong sales from Focus and Everest, help drive best overall sales since December 2007.
  • Fiesta has taken the Thai market by storm since its September 2 launch, finishing its first month of availability with nearly 3,500 bookings.
Bangkok, Thailand – October 4, 2010 - Led by exceptional demand for the all-new Ford Fiesta, Ford Thailand announced overall September sales that more than doubled from the same month a year ago, rising an impressive 114 percent to 1,520 units. The September sales total marked Ford Thailand’s best monthly performance since December 2007.
 
The new Fiesta has certainly lived up to its pre-launch buzz, finishing its first full month of availability in Thailand with sales of 838 units, and a total of nearly 3,500 orders. More than 65 percent of Thai customers to date have chosen the fully-equipped 1.6L Fiesta Sport model, reflecting a global trend among Fiesta buyers for high levels of features and options.

The Fiesta has significantly bolstered Ford’s competitive position by providing a best-in-class offering in Thailand’s popular and fast-growing small car segment. Fiesta delivers a number of first-in-class features with distinctive appeal, including a Connectivity package that features Voice Control technology paired with Bluetooth®, and Ti-VCT engine with a six-speed automatic PowerShift transmission.
“The launch of Fiesta signals the start of a transformed Ford in Thailand, and a true reflection of our commitment to delivering world-class, One Ford products that allow Thai consumers to feel the difference,” added Saroj.
 
Ford’s strong September sales were also driven by solid monthly performances of Ford Focus and Ford Everest, whose sales increased 175% and 16% versus the same month last year.
 
Additionally, Ford Thailand continued to enhance its customer service experience with the recent launch of its 24-hour spare parts guarantee program, expansion of its nationwide dealer network which will reach 100 locations by year-end, and bolstering its leading cost-of-ownership equation.
 
This is underscored by the new Fiesta's best-in-class cost-of-ownership in the B-car segment, boasting superior fuel economy, a 15,000 kilometer standard service interval and replacement part costs that are up to 20 percent less than the market average.
 
The new Ford Fiesta is available in three series levels – the 1.4L ‘Style’ and 1.6L ‘Trend’ and ‘Sport’ models – in five-door hatchback and four-door sedan body styles. Pricing ranges from THB 529,000-699,000.
