News CenterFord Vietnam's October Sales Rise 66 Percent, Deliver All-Time Best Monthly Market Share
HANOI, Vietnam, Nov. 12, 2013 — Ford Vietnam has reported its best October performance in four years with overall retail sales rising 66 percent year-over-year to 890 units. The exceptional month helped Ford achieve its best-ever monthly market share in Vietnam of 8.7 percent, two full percentage points higher versus October last year.
The record October month was again led by strong demand across the company’s full showroom of global Ford vehicles, including all-time best sales performances from both the all-new Ranger pickup and Transit commercial van, and a strong performance from the popular Ford Fiesta.
Year-to-date retail sales have now risen more than 82 percent to 6,389 vehicles, making Ford one of the fastest growing automotive brands in Vietnam this year. Ford’s full-year market share now stands at 7.3 percent, up 2.5 percentage points from the same period a year ago.
"Exceptional customer response to our full lineup of global Ford vehicles is helping drive our strong momentum this year,” said Jesus Metelo Arias, managing director, Ford Vietnam.
“With each new vehicle we introduce, we are connecting with new customers in so many exciting and meaningful ways, which is helping to further drive the strength and appeal of the Ford brand here in Vietnam,” added Arias.
The class-defining all-new Ranger delivered its all-time best monthly performance, with October sales nearly tripling year-over-year to 248 units. Continued strong demand for both the automatic and manual transmission variants have made the all-new Ranger the most popular pickup truck in Vietnam this year, with year-to-date sales surging an extraordinary 231 percent to 1,372 units.
“With its unmatched versatility and capability, the class-leading all-new Ranger appeals to such a broad spectrum of truck customers and their varying requirements and lifestyles, whether it’s for work, recreation, or a combination of both,” said Arias.
The Ford Transit led Vietnam’s bus and van segment for the 13th consecutive month in October, and delivered its all-time best monthly performance with retail sales increasing 42 percent year-over-year to 279 units. Full year sales of the Transit have now soared 192 percent from the same period last year to 1,540 units.
“Transit offers impressive carrying capacity, an array of versatile applications and particularly low running costs, which is ideal for commercial businesses and operators that are seeking further competitive advantages,” explained Arias. The popular Ford Fiesta’s full-year sales rose four percent from a year ago to 752 units.
Ford launched the new Fiesta at the Vietnam Motor Show in October, with variants featuring the award-winning 1.0L EcoBoost engine, and Ford’s global 1.5L Ti-VCT engine.
“The new Fiesta offers exactly what young and trendy consumers are looking for today in a small car – expressive, fun, smart, and with class-leading fuel economy, and we are confident it will continue increase in popularity and connect with an even wider variety of customer lifestyles and personalities,” said Arias.
The popular Ford Everest family SUV achieved October retails sales that rose 14 percent year-over-year to 131 units. Its year-to-date sales have risen 46 percent to 1,052 units.
The technology-packed all-new Ford Focus delivered year-to-date sales up 58 percent to 1,006 units. The all-new Focus features a wide range of segment-first smart technologies such as Active Park Assist, Active City Stop and Blind Spot Information System, as well as a class-leading safety package.
