GREAT PRODUCTS - Electrified

Ford has been in the electrified vehicle game now for more than 20 years, but by the end of 2012 the Blue Oval had become a major player with the successful launch of six new electrified vehicles.

Focus Electric, C-MAX Hybrid, Fusion Hybrid, MKZ Hybrid and two plug-in hybrids – Fusion Energi and C-MAX Energi – are all now available from Ford.

Take C-MAX Energi: Ford’s first production plug-in hybrid has a city rating of 108 MPGe and 21 miles of all-electric range – more than triple Toyota Prius plug-in’s six miles. The car has an EPA-estimated gas plus electric range of 620 miles. Owners appreciate C-MAX Energi’s real-car performance that includes 195 horsepower (well above Prius plug-in at 134), an engaging driving experience and a quiet interior – all with a leading electric-only speed of 85 mph, more than 20 mph above the Toyota.

Not to be outdone, Ford’s C-MAX Hybrid delivers EPA-estimated 47 mpg city, highway and combined – up to 7 mpg better than Prius v – plus 50 more horsepower and 12 class-exclusive technologies. For those who prefer their electrified vehicle in midsize sedan form, the all-new Fusion Hybrid and Fusion Energi deliver the same metrics as their C-MAX counterparts.

Intent to go beyond just providing choice, the company works hard to let customers know they no longer have to sacrifice convenience, comfort and performance in the name of owning an electrified vehicle.

Smart features, such as MyFord Mobile, were designed to provide owners of Focus Electric and Ford plug-in vehicles with a convenient way to monitor and manage their total energy usage. Owners can use their smartphones from almost anywhere to monitor and manage the battery charging process, find charging stations, check energy efficiency and earn achievements for efficient driving.

U.S. sales of Ford’s electrified vehicles have increased rapidly. Comparing December 2012 with December 2011, Ford’s share of the hybrid market grew 9 percentage points to 16 percent.
