Henry Ford 150 Years

BETTER WORLD - Henry Ford 150 Years

The legacy, contributions and influence of Henry Ford will be celebrated throughout 2013, which marks the 150th anniversary of the birth of the company founder.

MotorCities National Heritage Area and the Henry Ford Heritage Association teamed up with more than 30 Henry Ford-related collaborators to coordinate the yearlong celebration of events. Activities include tours, educational programming, dramatic re-enactments, lectures, integration and special events at auto shows and more.

Here’s a look at some of the events:

  • Discovering Henry Ford shows at The Henry Ford – April-December. A presenter-facilitated multimedia program using a large touch-screen monitor to access digital assets in themed 20-minute shows
  • Henry’s T – presentation at Greenfield Village – May-August. Visitors will meet Henry Ford in this interactive 15-minute play and hear how he was inspired to build the world’s universal car
  • Henry Ford Community Celebration at the Henry Ford Estate Fair Lane – July 27. This free community picnic at his beloved home in Dearborn, Mich., will bring Henry Ford to “life” through music, dance and a world of culinary experiences
  • Maker Faire at The Henry Ford – July 27-28. A two-day, family-friendly festival of invention, creativity and resourcefulness at The Henry Ford museum. This year’s celebration of the Maker movement will include an ingenuity awards program to recognize innovators, sponsored by the Ford Motor Company Fund

“Henry Ford believed strongly in finding creative, inventive ways to improve people’s lives. He used his ingenuity to make the world a better place, and I believe making the world a better place is what also drives Ford today,” said Ford Executive Chairman Bill Ford.
