- Ford China July wholesales reach 42,560, up 32%
- CFMA Ford-brand passenger car wholesales reach 26,306 in July, up 44%

SHANGHAI, China, August 9, 2012 – Due to strong sales across its growing product lineup, Ford China started the second half of 2012 with a 32 percent sales increase with 42,560 wholesale units sold in July. Year to date, Ford China has sold 319,882 wholesale units, up 4 percent from January – July 2011.
Total Ford-brand passenger cars sales—which include the imported Ford Edge—are up 50 percent in July, with 27,498 wholesale units sold. Strong July performance reflects continued demand for the New Focus, which sold over 11,000 wholesale units last month, and the Mondeo, which sold 4,730 wholesale units, up 63 percent from last year.
Customer demand for the Ford Edge is likewise on the rise, up 73 percent year to date after excellent July sales. Now available with a 2.0 liter EcoBoost engine, the Edge delivers up to 20 percent better fuel economy and 15 percent CO2 emissions reductions through its use of Ford’s patented turbo-charging and direct injection EcoBoost technology.
At Beijing’s Auto China 2012, Ford unveiled three new SUVs for China: the EcoSport, Kuga and Explorer, all of which feature Ford’s superior fuel efficiency, class-leading safety and cutting-edge smart technologies. These new models are part of Ford’s aggressive plan to introduce 15 new vehicles and 20 new powertrains to China by 2015.
In July Changan Ford Mazda Automobile (CFMA), Ford’s passenger car joint venture partner in China, sold 26,306 wholesale Ford-brand cars, up 44 percent from July last year. The significant surge in sales is due to strong performance for both the New Focus, continued demand for the Classic Focus, as well as a great month for Mondeo.
Sales at Jiangling Motors Corporation (JMC), Ford's commercial vehicle investment in China, are likewise strong despite the contracting commercial vehicle market. JMC sold 15,602 wholesale units in July, an increase of 8 percent from the same period last year.
As part of its continued aggressive expansion in Asia, yesterday JMC announced its entry into the heavy truck business through a 100-percent acquisition of Taiyuan Changan Heavy Truck Company, giving it a strong foothold in the world’s largest market for the segment.
