The replacement for the ubiquitous Model T was a brand new vehicle that brought new levels of design, safety and comfort to the mass market.
Designed under the eye of Edsel Ford, the Model A featured aesthetically-pleasing lines, so much so that it was nicknamed the "Baby Lincoln." It offered 40 horsepower, twice that of the Model T, and offered advanced features like shock absorbers, four wheel brakes and a safety glass windshield.
A variety of models were offered, ranging from the $385 Roadster to the $1200 Town Car. The much-anticipated introduction drew an estimated 10 million people to dealerships in the first 36 hours—50,000 in New York alone.
