  •  Ford’s overall year-to-date sales have soared 280 percent – with each nameplate recording a year-over-year sales increase

BANGKOK, Thailand, 9 August 2011 – The continued surge in popularity and sales of the All-New Ford Fiesta helped drive Ford to its second best all-time monthly performance in July with overall retail sales that jumped an impressive 285 percent year-over-year to 3,035 units.

The exceptional July was led by the continued success of the All-New Ford Fiesta which recorded sales of 2,060 vehicles, marking the seventh consecutive month that Fiesta sales have eclipsed its previous all-time monthly high.

The Fiesta's record July performance helped the class-leading vehicle grab 13.8 percent share of its segment, including the Fiesta being the best-selling 5-door model in its segment.

"Thai consumers are continuing to connect with Fiesta in so many different and exciting ways, which is helping to drive record sales each consecutive month,” said Saroj Kiatfuengfoo, vice president, Marketing, Sales and Service, Ford Thailand.

"With the increasing number of Fiestas out on the road, this award-winning car is helping to build on its own success as more and more people see and experience its class-leading package of design, safety, fuel-efficiency and smart technology,” added Saroj.

Ford’s outstanding July sales were also supported by another strong performance of the popular Ford Ranger pickup whose sales increased 40 percent from last year to 651 units.

The Ford Focus also contributed to the overall monthly total with July sales that rose 39 percent from the same month last year.

Ford’s overall retail sales this year have risen nearly four-fold – soaring by 280 percent to 17,838 units through the first seven months – with each nameplate recording a year-over-year sales increase.

Year-to-date Ranger sales are up more than 45 percent, Focus sales are up nearly 42 percent, Everest sales are up more than eight percent and Escape sales are up three percent.

“Strong sales across our full lineup of Ford vehicles clearly underscores the transformation of the Ford brand in Thailand, and reflects the many lifestyles that our world-class vehicles are suited. It also shows the continued progress that we are making on our One Ford plan here in Thailand,” said Saroj.
