News CenterFord Sollers First Quarter 2012 Sales Up 30 Per Cent
MOSCOW/Russia, April 9, 2012 – Led by strong demand for locally built Focus and Mondeo models, sales of Ford Sollers in Russia surged by 30 per cent in the first quarter this year.
27,232 Ford vehicles were sold in the first three months, up from 20,919 in the same period last year.
First quarter 2012 sales included sales of 19,596 Focus units. Only recently, in a nation-wide survey, Russian customers voted the Ford Focus Russian Car of the Year 2012 in its segment, confirming the growing popularity of the model.
Similarly, the Ford Transit was named the best commercial vehicle on the market, by Golden Klaxon, Russia’s bi-weekly automotive newspaper. Sales of the Transit almost doubled in the first quarter this year. With this, Ford is one of the leading importers of commercial vehicles in the country.

About Ford Sollers
The Ford Sollers joint venture started operation on October 1, 2011, and is responsible for the production, import and distribution of all Ford brand products, including vehicles, parts and accessories, in Russia. The Ford Sollers joint venture includes vehicle production facilities in Vsevolozhsk (St.Petersburg region), and in Naberezhnye Chelny and in the special economic zone of Alabuga in the the Republic of Tatarstan. Ford Sollers also will manufacture engines and operate a stamping facility that will provide a higher level of local parts content for Ford vehicles built in Russia. It also plans to establish research and development activities.
