Ford Indonesia Reports Best All-Time Monthly Sales in July That Soared 165 Percent

  •  Record month supported by Ford Ranger’s strongest sales of the year
  •  Ford Fiesta continues its rapid pace with second-best sales month since its Indonesia launch
Jakarta, Indonesia, 9 August, 2011 – Ford Motor Indonesia (FMI) today reported its best all-time monthly performance, with overall July retail sales that jumped 165 percent year-over-year to 1,717 vehicles.

The record month was supported by strong sales across Ford’s full lineup of vehicles. This included the best monthly performance of the year for Ford Ranger with sales that rose 68 percent from a year ago to 829 units, underscoring its long-standing position as FMI’s best-selling vehicle.

FMI’s continued growth was also fueled by the ongoing success of the globally acclaimed All-New Ford Fiesta, which finished July with sales of 679 vehicles - its second best monthly performance since being launched last year.

The Fiesta was named ‘Stylish Hatchback of the Year 2011’ by Car & Tuning Guide at the 19th Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS) in July, with the Fiesta being recognized for its unique combination of interior and exterior design; safety, security and convenience features, as well as the best value for money.

“Everyone on the FMI team is very proud of our record sales in July, which was driven by another strong month from both the All New Fiesta and our best monthly performance this year of the Ford Ranger,” said Will Angove, president director, FMI. "We also had a very successful Indonesia Motor Show in July where we held the market debut of the All New Ford Ranger and continued to generate a lot of excitement ahead of its launch here in Indonesia."

The exceptional July performance also benefitted from strong sales of the Ford Focus, with sales that rose 129 percent from a year ago, as well as the Ford Escape and Ford Everest, which increased 46 percent and 26 percent, respectively.

Overall sales of Ford vehicles in Indonesia in the first seven months of the year have increased nearly three-fold, or 185 percent, versus the same period a year ago to 9,359 units.
