Color & Material Design Manager Position offered by Ford Motor Company (Dearborn, MI). Manage subordinate team of designers and oversee total interior and exterior vehicle line specific color, material design and integration. Support Appearance Steering Teams (AST) programs, Total Value Management (TVM) initiatives, and show car builds. Manage series development with color & materials - color master verification and specs, interior and exterior design commodities, interior and exterior components and seating. Manage digital and PowerPoint presentations, including color and material vehicle line and series strategy presentations.
Minimum Requirements:
· Requires a bachelor’s or foreign equivalent degree in industrial design or a related field
· 8 years of experience monitoring timing and workflow across a design organization
· 8 years of experience performing automotive color and material design at an OEM
· 8 years of experience delivering production color and material programs from innovation to launch at an OEM
· 5 years of creative design experience working in a product design environment throughout the automotive design process from customer archetype identification and product ideation to product concept maturation and production feasible design delivery globally
· 5 years of experience delivering color and material design with automotive material suppliers, material production, and technical material feasibilities
· 5 years of experience developing color and material design proposals while considering feasibility requirements critical to product performance and quality
· 5 years of experience driving color and material design process innovation and improvements that enable efficient and faster delivery of designs
· 5 years of experience using Autodesk VRED and Adobe Photoshop
· 2 years of experience conducting trend research and interpreting customer requirements and trends into automotive color and material applications for vehicle line specific programs
· 2 years of experience utilizing User Experience (UX) methodology
· 2 years of experience utilizing Design Thinking methodology and tools
· 2 years of experience utilizing 3D design tools for color and materials
· 2 years of experience utilizing strategic planning in support of C&M portfolio
· Up to 25% travel (domestic and international)
· Experience may be, but need not be, acquired concurrently
