The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing prototype vehicle and dynamometer builds for control system development. Responsibilities will include working with engineers and suppliers to identify and execute modifications; installing control system hardware, software and calibrations; developing specifications for wiring harnesses; testing and troubleshooting vehicles, as well as mechanical, electrical and communication subsystems; and interfacing effectively with multiple development activities.
Employ technical, communicative, organizational and problem solving skills to:
Manage vehicle and dynamometer builds for control system development
Identify, order, track and test controls related hardware (modules, sensors, actuators, instrumentation, etc.)
Specify, test and troubleshoot wiring harnesses
Establish communication interfaces with vehicle hardware (for example CAN, LIN)
Install and verify function of calibration and data acquisition systems (for example ATI Vision)
Specify, install and verify function of rapid prototyping control (RP) systems (for example dSpace, Arduino)
Manage and maintain installation of software application builds in vehicle/dynamometer
Perform system troubleshooting and facilitate problem resolution
Design experiments to support troubleshooting
Collect and analyze experimental data to confirm system function and identify/resolve issues
Use calibration tools, HIL and software bench
Interface with vehicle build team, suppliers, engineers and technicians.
Minimum Requirements:
Associates degree in science or technology related to Engineering
3+ years’ experience with combustion engines, electrical systems and diagnostic tools.
1+ years’ experience using ATI Calibration tools
3+ years’ experience as engineer or technologist within engineering organization
1 year experience managing test vehicle or dynamometer modifications, including electrical systems, design modifications, installations and commissioning/de-bug.
Preferred Requirements:
Knowledge and experience with electronic circuit design, build-ups and modifications.
Demonstrated experience programming and using RP systems for prototype I/O and control.
Demonstrated experience with vehicle & dynamometer development, including vehicle controls support, calibration tools, RP tools, data collection, complex system trouble shooting.
5+ years’ experience as engineer or technologist within engineering organization
Strong problem solving skills
Strong skills in written and verbal communications
