This is a position for a Test Systems Engineer, with an emphasis on Test System Design, Validation Testing, and Product Engineering. In this position, you will be working in the Validation Test Team, responsible for the definition, design, modification, and implementation of Validation Test Systems for Fords next generation electronic modules for vehicles. The successful candidate will be working with the manufacturing test team to ensure that the test solutions deliver the highest product quality, meet the needs of future electronic modules, and achieve best in class cost of test.
Responsibilities:
Maintain existing validation test systems to: - Add additional test coverage as needed - Modify pass/fail parameters as needed
Ensure proper functionality for next gen products
Provide design inputs for test systems for both prototype and production phases of the modules
Work with vendors to outsource the design of the test system if required
Create project plans and timelines
Creation and modification of test sequences and scripts
Validation of test system design through Gage R&R and negative samples
Ensure common test methods are used and carried forward into future test solutions
Work with HW Engineering Teams to root cause test failures involving:
Providing test logs and chamber conditions
Identifying and executing subsequent testing as needed
Interface closely with other teams such as Software, Mechanical, Product Design, and with external suppliers
Become qualified to run all Environmental Test Stations as needed
Must be willing to travel up to 10%
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree (Electrical or Computer Engineering) or related
5+ Years of Manufacturing or Reliability Test Development and Product Engineering experience
Preferred Qualifications:
5 years’ experience in an environmental/reliability test lab environment
Familiarity with environmental test chambers and equipment
Detailed understanding of product schematics, system design, and part datasheets
Strong ability to define and implement test methods in either a research and development or manufacturing environment
Detailed understanding of various technologies such as CAN, LIN, Automotive Ethernet, GPS, 2G/3G/4G, WiFi, BT, Power Supplies, Audio, Display, and Cameras • Experience with DFMEA, PFMEA, RCCA
Excellent hardware and software debugging skills
In-depth experience working with test equipment such as oscilloscopes, multi-meters, spectrum analyzers, power supplies, and precision power meters
Test instrumentation and remote control • Programming experience with Teststand and/or Labview
Experience with Jira • Schematic capture and PCB layout • Excellent mechanical aptitude
Working knowledge of industry standard interfaces such LVDS, DDR, PCI, I2C, and Ethernet
Motivated and self-starter • Excellent communication and project management skills
Excellent problem solving skills in a hands-on environment • Excellent documentation skills
Strong collaboration and leadership skills
Ability to communicate effectively with business users and engineering professionals including globally distributed teams; ability to adjust communications appropriately for the audience; work with all levels of management and diverse work groups
