Position Overview/Description:
We are seeking exceptional candidates to join our growing autonomous vehicle business team! Autonomous vehicles are an important part of Ford’s future and we’re looking for the best and brightest. The role will require critical thinking, problem-solving capabilities, and a “get it done” attitude to help make strategic decisions that will enable Ford to be a leader in autonomy, connectivity, mobility, customer experience, and analytics.
Currently, we are seeking a Global Autonomous Vehicles Strategy Manager in our Detroit, Michigan location. As a Global Autonomous Vehicles Strategy Manager, you will work across our vehicle, software, IT and business teams to bring all the pieces together to build our AV business. This role is dedicated to creating a strategy for the future of mobility here at Ford.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Company’s Autonomous Vehicle strategy development and execution, significantly influencing the direction, investment, and future of Ford Motor Company
  • Generate opportunities for accelerating growth, including product and process development, joint ventures, acquisitions, and other alliances
  • Conduct research and analysis of macro trends, industry, competitor intelligence, etc. to substantiate strategic conclusions
  • Identify/monitor trends, changes and disruptions in the relevant markets and deduct implications for Ford’s Autonomous Vehicle
  • Identify opportunities (regional/business) as well as threats and evaluate multiple options; provide recommendations complete with risk analysis
  • Achieve and maintain continuous improvement in growth of technology, profits, and revenue
  • Understand customer requirements in target markets and ensure Business Units provide products and services to meet customer needs
  • Translate market research data to identify customer, industry, and technology trends and assess global market prospects
  • Organize, coordinate and help develop strategic dialogue between multiple internal stakeholders including:
  • Autonomous Vehicle Group
  • Electrification Group
  • Product Development
  • Purchasing
  • Marketing, Sales, and Service
  • Global Markets (Business Units)
  • Challenge actively (constructively) and voice strategic concerns
  • Actively engage in strategic initiatives with other Ford Skill Teams and Business Unit Regions
  • Support and challenge Skill Teams and Regions to translate strategic direction into projects/roadmaps with timelines and deliverables
  • Act seamlessly across Ford Motor Company to initiate and drive strategic projects across the organization to further the Company’s progress with Autonomous Vehicles
  • Ensure rational and fact-base decision-making based on sound analysis and evaluation
  • Collaborate with other members of the Autonomous team
  • Develops and mentors staff through on-boarding, open communication, as well as training and development opportunities; builds and maintains employee morale and motivation; ensures the team is appropriately staffed with required competencies; fosters a diverse and inclusive workplace

Skills and Abilities
  • Advanced conceptual and analytical skills to be able to cope with a great variety and diversity of topics, especially in the technology space and emerging/disruptive business segments
  • Excellent project leadership skills to drive topics with multiple stakeholders/interest
  • Excellent social and communication skills to be able to work with and lead in very different team settings
  • Great flexibility to take on multiple different projects and to work in a dynamic team environment
  • Able to foster mutually beneficial relationship with partners at all levels of the organization, across multiple skill teams – both within the Company and with strategic partners, suppliers, and joint ventures

Job Requirements:
Basic Qualifications:
  • MBA degree in Engineering, Finance, Business, Economics
  • 10+ years of experience in strategy work at a consulting firm or a boutique consulting firm. Investment banking, private equity and strategy roles in the technology space will also be considered

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 15+ years of experience in strategy work at a consulting firm or a boutique consulting firm. Investment banking, private equity, start up, and strategy roles in the technology space will also be considered
  • Experience working on strategy projects pertaining to internet or retail experience is a plus
