Ford is looking for a seasoned Next Gen Cloud DevOps/Release Engineer to support our Next Gen Data Center Release Engineering effort in Standard Compute - This is exciting team to join. We are engineering on-Prem cloud for infrastructure services to enable DevOps culture in ITO. We are using DevOps tools like Git, Jenkins, Concourse, CHEF, vRA/vRO to build on-prem cloud. We are also using Agile/Kanban boards to track our projects and this team integrates with 14 other Product Owners who are engineering in Standard Compute.
Responsibilities:
DevOps/Release Eng will create and maintain integration backlog, work with product owners and coordinate dependencies & Release source code(CHEF, Habitat, vRA/vRO) in production
Help to drive engineering effort of Product Driven Delivery Pipeline(CI/CD) to promote DevOps culture with CHEF, Jenkins, Habitat, etc.
Serve as the primary technical contact for automation integration teams
Communicate release changes and coordinate testing with infrastructure integration teams (build necessary artifacts and automated tooling to support)
Design and document integration requirements and specifications with CHEF and vRA/vRO & CHEF Habitat codes
Own and lead initiatives to define, design, and implement DevOps solutions
Implement, maintain and improve continuous integration and continuous delivery environments
Job Requirements:
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree
3+ years of development or infrastructure as code background.
2+ years' Configuration Management Suites like Chef, Puppet or Ansible,Git or other Source Control (SVN, CVS, Accurev, etc.) and GitHub
2+ years' Programming - Work with multiple emerging programming languages (Groovy, Ruby, Python, Perl etc.), Scripting Bash, PowerShell, etc.
1+ year of experience with architectural skills such that they can identify architectural gaps in an integration and advise what new architecture would make integration easier / more stable.
5+ years of experience of coding
Preferred Qualifications:
MUST BE a self-starter, capable of working independently and in teams with minimum supervision
Must have excellent communication skills and technical writing skills (Communicate technical design through diagrams, documents, and presentations)
Ability to work with a variety of cross functional teams to develop automation with services and for required tools
Be an advocate for DevOps mindset and culture, collaboration, flexibility, cross domain knowledge, empathy
Self-driven individual who can understand requirements, develop and coach others as needed with a devOps mindset.
Develop, document, test, and use REST APIs
Experience with DevOps tools like CI/CD Jenkins, Concourse etc.
Ability to prioritize and lead multiple concurrent work streams globally to meet deadlines
Strong oral and written communication skills, including presentation development and general consulting
Understand IT landscape, critical cross-program dependencies, Test Driven Development, release and deployment activities, environment and data management concepts
Ability to apply critical thinking, research and present alternatives, Excellent organization skills and attention to details
Motivated self-starter with an ability to operate independently. Strong desire to learn and make a difference
Must be comfortable working in PDO environments
Some hands-on experience in deployment and operations, experienced with Production environment with customer-facing SLAs & how to determine root cause and what is the safest way to return the environment to functionality.
Experience in working with agile teams, rapid and successful delivery is a plus
