Job Description

The Customer Features and Interaction Technologies Department in Ford's Research and Advanced Engineering organization is responsible for researching and delivering technology and features for Ford's future infotainment offerings on autonomous and non-autonomous vehicles. We both research and prototype new features, technologies and experiences for our drivers.

This position is primarily focused on researching, defining, and developing customer-facing applications and features related to connectivity, video and other infotainment features and technologies. Work tasks span from the early research and development stages of ideation, experience and use case development, through development of Proof-of-Concept solutions, vehicle integration, and delivery of features to the Product Development organization.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Research and develop concepts and prototypes of new applications and features related to infotainment and connectivity for autonomous and non-autonomous vehicles, producing idea presentations, technology demonstrations, use case development, Proof-of-Concept implementations, specifications, and requirements.
  • Work with UX engineers to define an optimal user experience for feature and/or technology
  • Design and specify implementations
  • Develop and maintain support technologies and platforms for features
  • Lead technology and feature development projects for the connected and autonomous vehicle
  • Perform competitive analyses and maintain knowledge of emerging technologies in both the automotive and consumer electronics fields, especially around connectivity, infotainment, and autonomous vehicles
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering or Systems Engineering
  • 2+ years’ industry experience with feature development
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering or Systems Engineering
  • Experience with development tools and programming
  • Ability to manage concurrent tasks and self-motivation/ability to work independently
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
