Connected Vehicle Platform & Products (CVP&P) Department is a global team within Ford Mobility group responsible for architecture, systems engineering, development, validation, and the ongoing operations of connected vehicles, autonomous vehicles (AV), and electrification connectivity features.
What we do CVP&P Basic Design is a specialized cross-functional design team within CVP&P responsible for the end-to-end architecture of best-in-class connected vehicle ecosystem and a connectivity fabric for seamless delivery of connected features. We drive smart mobility business and technology innovation to aid Ford’s connectivity vision and growth strategies in new industry technologies, such as electrification and AV.
Responsibilities:
Research, evaluate and recommend state of the art technologies used in autonomous vehicles connectivity.
Responsible for interfacing with research and advanced engineering teams to bring new connected vehicle concepts into production.
Collaborates with a team of cross-functional domain experts for developing global connected vehicle engineering strategy.
Works as part of a team defining and specifying V2X policies (Vehicle to Vehicle, Vehicle to Infrastructure, Vehicle to Grid, Vehicle to Network, Vehicle to Pedestrian, etc...) for autonomous vehicle connectivity development.
Collaborates with a team of experts in Vehicle Electronics Integration, Spectrum of connectivity channels, cloud-based application systems and mobile applications integration in defining the requirements and specifications for autonomous vehicles development.
Collaborates with a team of architects and vehicle systems engineers to break-down a connected vehicle feature into manageable chunks of functional components and distribute them across Vehicle, Cloud and Mobile App sub-systems / components.
Responsible for developing complex technical specifications at vehicle sub-system level and correlating with ecosystem level architecture specifications.
Works with cross functional groups to develop interoperability interfaces across sub systems and translate them into sub system level requirements for building state-of-the-art connected vehicle systems architecture.
Author requirements and develop re-usable feature design into vehicle components for approved connected vehicle features.
Responsible for engineering efficient connected vehicle features that integrate multiple sub-systems inside the vehicle. Conduct cost-benefit analysis and present architecture options to a large set of stake holders and gain cross functional alignment.
Required Qualifications
BS Engineering discipline in Computer Sciences or Electrical and Electronics
6 months of experience with embedded software design
Preferred Qualifications
MS Engineering discipline in Computer Sciences or Electrical and Electronics
Experience with interoperability techniques and standards in in-vehicle embedded systems
Experience with network communication protocols, transport protocols and payload optimization techniques and frameworks.
Experience with analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to navigate through working teams across multiple departments
Experience in use case modelling and use case design reviews
Experience working with large cross functional teams under aggressive timelines and sporadic heavy workloads
Knowledge of cloud-based application integration, enterprise application integration and service-oriented architecture principles is a PLUS.
Experience with prioritizing tasks on hand by evaluating long term implications
Experience with core engineering fundamentals and interoperability standards and emerging trends
Experience in supporting a system or component through the product lifecycle to launch
Experience with vehicle architectures, CAN/Automotive Ethernet, diagnostics, embedded device messaging and interoperability of embedded components.
Experience with embedded system integration with head units, radios and vehicle HMI as well as understanding of customer experience with mobile devices.
Experience with embedded software architecture and Internet of Things.
Strong customer focus and excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
