Job Description
Switch Module Core Software Engineer:

Ford is seeking to hire a person with embedded software knowledge. The candidate will be responsible for the software in a Switch component module. This means that they would have a detailed knowledge of the functional specification, conduct design review, help resolve vehicle/bread board issues.
The candidate will interface several functional areas to ensure the software being developed for the Switch module performs to customer expectation and Ford requirements.

Responsibilities include:
  • Provide Software project management and technical support to the Switch D&R Team.
  • Translate project/product requirements and identify/determine feature and functional requirements/specifications.
  • Resolve issues and/or ambiguities found in specifications during the vehicle development cycle.
  • Work with the FSS software team explaining software requirements.
  • Work with Ford D&R and supplier to align commodity to NetCom, Diagnostics and Functional Safety requirements.
  • Generate functional specifications
  • Review supplier’s software issue list, and ensure exceptions/limitations are well understood and communicated to program team prior to each vehicle build/SW release event
  • Work with suppliers to perform containment review and risk assessment to ensure robust implementation of software issues found during development and production
  • Review supplier's SW development plan, SW architecture documentation, traceability between software work products/releases, and supplier's test plan & test results, etc.
  • Verify that software deliverables align with vehicle program timing and EESE process to ensure supplier software quality launch
  • Conduct software design review with Suppliers in accordance with Ford Product Development and Central Software processes
  • Attend/Support Commodity PATs; support vehicle launch (as needed)
  • Continuously improve software process by enhancing requirements based on lessons learned

Required Qualifications:
  • BS in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering
  • 4+ years of engineering work experience and an understanding of embedded hardware and software design.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Understanding of embedded hardware and software design
  • Project Management experience
  • Knowledge of control theory and algorithm design
  • Knowledge and experience with Automotive Safety Standards (i.e. ISO 26262) and Software development standards/processes (i.e. SPICE, CMMI)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products
  • Teamcenter VSEM, JIRA, and Github experience desired.
  • Familiarity with CANalyzer, AutoSar, and Functional Safety desired.
  • Working understanding of CAN and LIN vehicle networks.
  • Experience in Matlab Simulink
  • Experience in working with, and / or for, an Electronic Control Manufacturer is desirable
  • Would consider less than five years of experience, if the candidate has a demonstrated working knowledge of the subject matter.
