Position Description/Overview:

This is a position for a manufacturing process specialist, with an emphasis on test system design and product engineering. In this position, you will be working in a team responsible for the definition, design, and implementation of manufacturing test systems for Fords next generation electronic modules for vehicles. The successful candidate will be working with the design team to ensure that the test solutions deliver the highest product quality, meet the needs of future electronic modules, and achieve best in class cost of test.


Responsibilities:
  • Define manufacturing test requirements for future electronic control modules by:
    • Breaking down product features into efficient and reliable test methods
    • Engaging in early product design to ensure Design for Test is included
    • Considering PFMEA, and DFMEA in the definition of test and process requirements
    • Reading and understanding product schematics and datasheets
  • Design test systems for both prototype and production phases of the modules to meet the test requirements
  • Work with vendors to outsource the design of the test system if required
  • Create project plans and timelines
  • Creation and modification of test sequences and scripts
  • Creates schematics, test specifications, test coverage plans, test time estimates, yield estimates, and test limits
  • Implementation of the test systems with vendors and suppliers
  • Create plans and drive actions to address any deficiencies with yield, test time, and test coverage
  • Validation of test system design through Gage R&R and negative samples
  • Identify opportunities for improvement and drive implementation to improve quality, reduce test time, and increase yield
  • Ensure common test methods are used and carried forward into future test solutions
  • Interface closely with other teams such as Software, Mechanical, Product Design, and with external suppliers
  • Must be willing to travel occasionally

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree (Electrical or Computer Engineering) or related
  • 5+ Years of Manufacturing Test Development and Product Engineering experience
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Detailed understanding of product schematics, system design, and part datasheets
  • Strong ability to define and implement test methods in either a research and development or manufacturing environment
  • Detailed understanding of various technologies such as CAN, LIN, Automotive Ethernet, GPS, 2G/3G/4G, WiFi, BT, Power Supplies, Audio, Display, and Cameras
  • Experience with DFMEA, PFMEA, RCCA
  • Excellent hardware and software debugging skills
  • In-depth experience working with test equipment such as oscilloscopes, multi-meters, spectrum analyzers, power supplies, and precision power meters
  • Test instrumentation and remote control
  • Programming experience with Teststand and/or Labview
  • Experience with Jira
  • Schematic capture and PCB layout
  • Excellent mechanical aptitude
  • Working knowledge of industry standard interfaces such LVDS, DDR, PCI, I2C, and Ethernet
  • Motivated and self-starter
  • Excellent communication and project management skills
  • Excellent problem solving skills in a hands-on environment
  • Excellent documentation skills
  • Strong collaboration and leadership skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with business users and engineering professionals including globally distributed teams; ability to adjust communications appropriately for the audience; work with all levels of management and diverse work groups
