Position Description/Overview

We are seeking exceptional candidates to join our growing Autonomous Vehicle (AV) business team! Autonomous vehicles are an important part of Ford’s future and we are looking for the best and brightest. The role will require enterprise-wide critical thinking, cross-functional collaboration, and a “get it done” attitude to help make strategic decisions that will enable Ford to be a leader in autonomy, connectivity, mobility, customer experience, and analytics. As a key member of the AV Partnerships team, you’ll have influence and help drive the exploration and activation of strategic Autonomous Vehicle partnerships for Ford as we execute business pilots with multiple external partners across different commercial applications.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Help Identify and support strategic and complementary partnerships with diverse firms across the United States and globally
  • Perform research to identify partnerships for growth within Ford’s existing businesses or expansion into new areas
  • Ensure that partnership evaluations consider many aspects including business feasibility, profit potential, and complementary brand impact on all relevant parties in concert with Ford’s broader AV strategy
  • Support the creation of investment memorandums and related presentations for review by the Ford senior management team
  • Actively contribute to the negotiation of transaction terms and legal documentation
  • Interface closely with finance, legal, tax, product development and other departments of Ford to ensure seamless deal execution
  • Challenge actively (constructively) and voice relevant concerns; partner with others on the team to engage constructively in meetings and encourage vibrant discourse

Job Requirements:
Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 3 years investment banking, corporate development, or related technology/partnerships experience

Preferred Qualifications:
  • MBA preferred
  • 5+ years investment banking, corporate development, or related technology/partnerships experience
  • Familiarity with corporate financial statements and commonly referenced profitability metrics.
  • Experience building complex financial models to help deliver an understanding of business potential & profitability
  • Ability to incorporate research, strategy and analytics into design decisions, and evaluate partnership opportunities
  • Experience delivering large scale, complex product programs/projects
  • Comfortable navigating within a highly matrixed organization with internal and external stakeholders, most of whom are not in a direct reporting line relationship
  • Aptitude in scoping and analyzing complex legal contract terms and partnership agreements
  • Exceptional ability to think creatively and innovatively
  • Adept in the ability to identify and engage with firms outside the Company and our industry to explore new business models
  • Professional judgment and discretion
  • Comfortable working in white-space emerging business areas dependent on innovation, creativity, and testing new business models that are new to the Company, and new to our industry
  • Excellent project leadership skills to drive topics with multiple stakeholders/interests
  • Ability to confidently communicate and assist in effective negotiation with external partners
  • Know when and how to communicate (email, presentation, face to face, collaboration tools, etc.) to maintain alignment between internal and external team members, project executives and project stakeholders in a dynamic, geographically distributed and culturally diverse organization
  • Ability to inspire colleagues and be team-oriented
  • Most definitely a sense of humor
