Together with the Society of Manufacturing Engineers Foundation, we host the STEPS camp program at the University of Detroit Mercy.
Preparing Young Women for Technical Careers
The STEPS camp program is a tuition-free, residential youth summer program that targets young women in middle and high school, with a special emphasis on involving minority students. STEPS combines hands-on laboratory experience with academic study and recreational activities.
Campers can choose between three manufacturing curricula: rocketry, aerospace and robotics. Selected technical activities focus on scientific principles and their engineering applications to create useful products.
