Ford Model A Production Begins at Rouge Assembly

After a three-month shutdown, to retool for "The New Ford", Ford Motor Company began to produce the car that would replace the iconic Model T.

The car that Ford felt was so different than the previous model, they had to start the alphabet over, became the Model A.

Even though the Model A was in production for only four years, it sold nearly five million units worldwide.

The Model A was also one of the first affordable cars to take safety into consideration, with shatterproof glass, four wheel brakes and bumpers as standard equipment.
