SHANGHAI, Oct. 9, 2013 - Ford China’s sales soared with 647,849 wholesale units sold in the first three quarters, an increase of 51 percent compared to the same period last year. Driven by continued strong demand for Ford’s new product lineup in China, September sales increased by 61 percent with 96,111 wholesales sold, compared to 59,570 sold in September last year.

“Ford’s strong sales demonstrate our continued progress on our aggressive China growth strategy,” said John Lawler, chairman and CEO for Ford China. “By refreshing our product lineup, expanding our dealer network, and growing our team and production capacity, Ford will continue to deliver a safe, high-quality, fuel efficient, and connected driving experience to our Chinese customers.”

The all-new Ford Mondeo—launched at the end of August—had its first full sales month in September, selling 9,676 wholesale units, a testament to the enthusiastic response from Chinese customers to the vehicle’s smart technologies and world-class craftsmanship. The new Ford Mondeo sets the standard for the mid-to-high-end segment, featuring a sleek, head-turning design, and award-winning 1.5L and 2.0L EcoBoost engines for leading fuel economy and high performance.

The Focus nameplate also continued to turn heads in September, with 37,271 wholesale units sold, up 11 percent compared to September 2012. Ford’s full portfolio of SUV—the Ford EcoSport, Ford Kuga, Ford Edge and Ford Explorer—was also in high demand. In September the Changan Ford Racing Team continued its hold on the first place position, sweeping the podium at the Zhaoqing stop of the China Touring Car Championship. September also marked the  eighth annual Global Week of Caring, Ford’s global flagship employee volunteering project, during which more than 1,900 Ford employee volunteers in China ran 15 community projects, investing 11,900 hours in volunteer time.
