Ford's Year-to-date Sales Jump 15 Percent in China

SHANGHAI, China, May 6, 2011 - Ford Motor China sold 184,906 wholesale units in the first four months of 2011, a 15 percent increase from the same period last year. For the month of April, Ford sold 44,340 wholesale units, a three percent increase year-on-year.

Ford Focus was again in high demand with 17,556 wholesale units sold in April, an increase of 19 percent from a year ago. April is the eighth consecutive month Focus has seen double-digit year-on-year sales growth in China. Since its launch in 2005, Focus sales have exceeded 700,000 units.

Ford Mondeo continued its strong momentum with 6,061 wholesale units sold, a 24 percent increase from April last year. Launched in March, the 2011 Mondeo is the first Ford vehicle in China equipped with Ford's eco-friendly and award-winning EcoBoost engine and PowerShift transmission.

Ford's EcoBoost engine increases vehicle fuel efficiency by up to 20 percent and reduces CO2 emission by 15 percent, offering better performance than larger displacement engines.

Changan Ford Mazda Automobile (CFMA), Ford Motor's passenger vehicle joint-venture in China, reported 33,184 wholesale unit sales in April. Year-to-date, CFMA has sold 140,193 vehicles.

Jiangling Motors Corporation (JMC), Ford's commercial vehicle investment in China, reported 73,290 wholesale unit sales for the January-April period, a 27 percent jump from the same period last year. Growth was driven by high demand for the industry-leading Ford Transit, which has increased sales by 28 percent compared to the same period in 2010.

As part of its continued expansion in the world's largest automotive market, Ford will bring 15 new vehicles to China by 2015. The new lineup will significantly strengthen Ford's penetration in existing segments and drive new growth in others.
