Ford Trains Future Leaders to Ready, Safe, Drive!

MechanicBeing able to jump a battery or fix a flat can be very handy skills out on the road – but many young women are not equipped for such emergencies.

Ford Motor Company Fund, in partnership with SafeSmartWomen (S2W), created "Ready, Safe, Drive!" car care events to teach young women of driving age basics in vehicle safety, maintenance and even the proper names for parts of a car or truck.

SEED WayneParticipants in the National Hispana Leadership Institute joined a recent Ready, Safe, Drive! event at Ourisman Ford in Alexandria, Virginia, to learn and practice car maintenance basics. The Ford car care program was incorporated into the NHLI Latinas Learning to Lead program.

Ready, Safe, Drive!Safe driving techniques and hands on preventive maintenance exercises are taught by professional technicians. This event was so successful that NHLI sees it as an empowerment tool and would like to make it part of its future leadership training.
