Ford Volunteers Make a World of Difference

The Ford Volunteer Corps is always on duty, but for one extraordinary week each year we make a world of difference for people in need.

During the 4th annual Ford Global Week of Caring, more than 10,000 Ford employee and retiree volunteers in 42 countries went to work in towns and villages across six continents. We contributed more than 35,000 hours to complete 217 community service projects.

The Ford Volunteer Corps painted an orphanage in Cambodia. We made repairs at a homeless shelter and a residence for the mentally challenged in Spain. We collected clothing and personal items for needy children in the Dominican Republic, and participated in a six-day project in South Korea to benefit the disabled and elderly. In the United States, Ford Global Week of Caring was anchored by an Accelerated Action Day on September 11 that focused on community building projects in 17 states.

Global Week of Caring and Accelerated Action Days are just two examples of the many times each year that Ford employees contribute their time and energy to help people in the areas where they live and work. Accelerated Action Days are held regularly to maximize Ford’s volunteer muscle by creating MODEL Teams of volunteers who work on projects that provide the most benefit to our nonprofit agency partners and the people they serve.

It’s part of our commitment to help make the world a better place.
