Life-Cycle Management

We use a life-cycle approach to assess and minimize the total environmental impacts of our vehicles – from raw materials extraction and transportation through manufacturing and use to end of life – by considering the impacts upfront in product design decisions. This approach, called "design for sustainability," is integrated and holistic, to ensure that we achieve a balance between environmental, social and economic aspects in our product development process.

This section reports on our product-related design for sustainability activities, including our efforts to choose more sustainable materials, design for recyclability and design for fuel economy.
