The high quality of Ford vehicles was recognized through several prestigious awards.
J.D. Power Awards
- In J.D. Power's 2007 Initial Quality Study, Ford led all automakers, with 14 vehicles ranked in the top three in their segments.
- In the research firm's report, the Ford Mustang, Mercury Milan, Lincoln MKZ, Lincoln Mark LT and Mazda MX-5 Miata swept their vehicle segments for top honors.
- The Company's overall ranking in the survey climbed to 4th place from last year's 7th, helped in part by the performance of Ford's recently launched vehicles.
- In J.D. Power's 2007 APEAL Study, the Ford Edge was named the industry's top-performing all-new vehicle, while the Ford Mustang topped its segment as well. The Ford Mustang also was the highest-ranked vehicle in the Midsize Sporty Car segment – for the second straight year.
Safety Awards
- The 2008 Ford Taurus, Mercury Sable and Ford Taurus X won "Top Safety Pick" awards from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety in the large car category.
- The Ford Edge and Lincoln MKX were also designated Top Safety Picks for 2008 in the midsize SUV category, earning "Good" ratings in frontal offset, side impact and rear crash tests.
- The Volvo S80, C70 and XC90 were also Top Safety Picks for 2008.
- The 2008 Ford Mustang was the first convertible to earn a perfect safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
Consumer Reports' Recommended Vehicles
- Ford's performance in Consumer Reports' 2007 Annual Questionnaire, which tracks vehicle reliability, improved dramatically over previous surveys. 93 percent of Ford, Lincoln and Mercury vehicles earned predicted reliability ratings of average or better, which helped many of them to achieve the influential magazine's "Recommended" status.
- Newly recommended vehicles included the Ford F-150, the redesigned Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator, and the all-new Ford Edge and Lincoln MKX.
Strategic Vision Awards
- The Ford Expedition EL, F-150 and F-250/350 topped their segments in Strategic Vision's 2007 Total Quality Index.
- The Ford Edge, Expedition EL, Lincoln MKX and Volvo V50 were the best in their segments in Strategic Vision's 2007 Total Value Index.
- Ford brands also won or tied for first in six categories, more than any other automaker, in Strategic Vision's "Most Delightful Vehicles of 2007" report. Winners included: the Mazda3 (small car); Volvo V50 Wagon (medium multifunction); Ford Expedition EL (large SUV); Lincoln MKX (tied for near-luxury SUV); Land Rover Range Rover Sport (luxury SUV); and Ford F-250/350 (heavy-duty pickup).
American Customer Satisfaction Index
- Lincoln and Mercury customers' satisfaction level reached 86 percent, (one point behind leader Lexus), and Ford had the biggest improvement (up nearly 4 percent) among all brands in the University of Michigan's 2007 American Customer Satisfaction Index.
