JAMIE MCMURRAY – No. 26 Crown Royal Ford Fusion (Qualified 28th) – IT WAS A TEAM DAY FOR YOU. “It’s just so frustrating. We got caught up in I guess the 82 car’s oil that he left on the race track and tore our car up, so we missed like an hour of practice. Then we had a flat tire in the second practice, so we had to put a set of mismatched tires on and we were trying to adjust our car to that. It’s been a very long day for us.”
GREG BIFFLE – No. 16 3M Ford Fusion (Qualified 13th) – “That’s all I had. I cut a perfect lap and that’s just all the speed our car had. It was as perfect a lap you could get, so I’m pretty happy. The track is certainly gonna continue to pick up a little bit of speed here, but it was a great run for us. The lap was about perfect. I felt like I got everything I could out of the race car, so I just hope that holds up. We’re knocking back pretty quick here, but I hope it holds up for a top-10 or top-12. That would be a great spot to start from tomorrow night.” WHY ARE GUYS TAKING BOTH LAPS TODAY? “This race track is so short and so small and it’s a little bit slower speed and it takes those two laps for the tires to really come in. Most of the time the two laps are pretty equal if you run them as hard as you can, but I ran my first lap fairly conservative – a good, solid lap – and then tried to push the issue on the second lap. Some of these guys were faster on their first, but it’s about equal laps. On those bigger race tracks the tires just go away so fast on those mile-and-a-halfs that the second lap is usually never faster.”
PAUL MENARD – No. 98 Menards Ford Fusion (Qualified 7th) – “We picked up I guess half-a-second from practice so we’ll take that. We didn’t really change a whole lot. We made a couple of little changes for qualifying that made it a lot better, obviously, and I think Larry Carter has a few more tricks up his sleeve for tomorrow.” YOU HAVE SOME MOMENTUM GOING AFTER TEXAS. IS THAT WHAT YOUR TEAM IS CAPABLE OF EVERY WEEK? “We’ll see how it all shakes out, but our race team is definitely a lot better than what we showed the first three or four races of the year. It’ll all equal itself out.”
MATT KENSETH – No. 17 DeWalt Ford Fusion (Qualified 17th) – “We were just off most of the day. We had it better in our mock qualifying run and just made a couple of changes for qualifying that seemed to make it a little bit worse. We’ll just see where it ends up.”
CARL EDWARDS – No. 99 Subway Ford Fusion (Qualified 11th) – “I felt like I could have done just a little bit better, but not much so I’m not gonna be mad about it because it could have been a lot worse. That’s an OK lap for us. That will give us a good starting spot and we need to run well in this Subway Fusion.”
DAVID RAGAN – No. 6 UPS Ford Fusion (Qualified 14th) – “I’m content with that. I thought we might have a little bit more in it, but those were two really good laps and I drove it as hard as I did in practice. A couple of adjustments we made helped and if we could do it again, maybe there’s a little bit more but that’s not too bad.”
