Michigan Assembly Plant to Build Global Focus, Support Local Jobs |
Ford Motor Company’s [NYSE: F] Michigan Assembly Plant – formerly the Michigan Truck Plant – has been renamed and is being transformed into a lean, green manufacturing facility that will build the all-new 2010 Ford Focus as well as a battery-electric version of the vehicle in 2011. Ford will invest $550 million in the facility as part of its changeover, which will support roughly 3,200 jobs. The state of Michigan and local governments provided tax incentives and grants are enabling the investment in the facility, which will be designated as the state’s first automotive technology anchor site. more... | |

Ford Family Works Satisfies Mothers Day Wishes of Less Stress |
Ford’s Family Works, a family-oriented application of the Ford Work Solutions™ Tool Link™ technology, can make a mother’s life easier and reduce a bit of stress. According to a 2007 survey by KIWI Magazine, 79 percent of mothers said they want more “me-time,” with 39 percent admitting to driving away with an item on the roof of their vehicle. The Family Works technology can help families keep track of misplaced or forgotten items, such as a homework folder or dance bag. Fiesta Movement agents are hitting the road and starting their first missions, which fall under the theme of travel. After receiving their Fiesta Movement vehicles at cross-country immersion events, agents selected the mission of their choice. Fusion Test Drives Give Consumers Access to American Idol Viewing Parties |
Ford and American Idol fans will have a rare opportunity to view a special showing of the American Idol finale at cinemas in 10 cities nationwide simply by test driving a new 2010 Ford Fusion or Fusion Hybrid. The test-drive events will be held nationwide throughout May, leading up to the May 19 American Idol finale. The new 2010 Lincoln MKZ earned a Top Safety Pick rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), solidifying Ford’s industry lead of Top Safety Picks vehicles. E-85 Powered Mustang FR500C Attempts to Break NASCAR Speed Record |
A Mustang FR500C owned by Hajek Motorsports, which has been reconfigured to NASCAR specs, will attempt to break the 22-year-old NASCAR speed record of 212.089 mph held by Bill Elliot. Elliot himself will pilot Brent Hajek's Mustang in the attempt on May 13 at Talladega, with technical support from Ford Racing. Last August, Hajek's ethanol-powered FR500C posted an initial run of over 252 mph at the Bonneville Salt Flats in his attempt for the land speed record for an Ethanol powered car. more... | |
