FORD CAR RANGE BOOSTS SALES IN NOVEMBER

BRENTWOOD, Essex, 4 December 2009 – Ford car sales increased by 19 per cent in November, compared with the same month in 2008. Sales were boosted across the Ford model range with Ka, Fiesta, Focus, Kuga, S-MAX and Galaxy all recording sales increases compared with November 2008.

Market leader Ford has raised its share of the car market to 16.0 per cent for the year to date, a 1.0 percentage point increase on the same period in 2008. Ford's share of the total vehicle market, including commercial vehicles, at 16.8 per cent, represents an increase of 0.5 per cent compared with 2008.

Ford Fiesta continued as the UK's top seller in November. Having passed the 100,000 sales mark for 2009 in October, Fiesta sales are continuing to build – increasing by more than 21,000 to the end of November, compared with the same period in 2008. Ford Focus was second to Fiesta in the UK best-sellers chart in November and for the year to date.

The Government's scrappage scheme has lifted the UK market significantly, since its launch in May, with Ford boasting a total of 31,604 scrappage orders through to the end of November.
