Biffle Posts Top-10 Finish To Start Chase For the NASCAR Sprint Cup

GREG BIFFLE – No. 16 3M Ford Fusion (Finished 9th) – “I guess it was OK. I really thought I could run up front with those guys. All I needed to do was get track position and I could have been there. That was it – track position all day. I fought to get up there. I knew that once I got up there I could run with them, but I could just never get there.” A GOOD RESULT CONSIDERING THE FLAT TRACK STRUGGLES ALL YEAR? “It’s been rough, but this is a good race track for us and we thought we were gonna run better than this, but we just needed track position.” WHAT WERE THE DOUBLE-FILE RESTARTS LIKE OUT THERE? “It was actually relatively calm. We were bunched up and trading places, but I thought it was relatively calm today.”

CARL EDWARDS – No. 99 Aflac Ford Fusion (Finished 17th) – “It was a wild finish for sure. Our Aflac Fusion, we worked hard all day and my guys did a great job on pit road, but it just wasn’t fast. In racing, it’s really important to be fast, but congrats to Mark. He’s showing he’s gonna be tough to beat, so we just have to go to Dover and have a better one than this.” HOW WAS THE DAY FOR YOU? “For me, the day was a little bit frustrating. We started fifth and just slowly couldn’t quite keep up and finished 16th. It could have been a disaster, though, because a lot of guys had more trouble than us, so we’ll take it.” YOU SEEMED TO HAVE A BETTER CAR THAN YOU FINISHED. “Our car just struggled all day and I couldn’t go fast. Once I got strung out I could hold my own and I could run well, but on those restarts I just got killed on the short run. That’s gonna be tough. That’s gonna be important in the chase.”

DAVID RAGAN – No. 6 UPS Ford Fusion (Finished 33rd) – “That was unfortunate for our UPS team. I think that we made some progress from the beginning of the race and we had a top 15 to top 20 car. We were out there just racing our own race and it was just one of those things where the No. 2 was leaving and if I would have slowed down, he would have hit me in my door. In that kind of position, they need to be looking ahead to see what is coming in. All in all, still not the car we wanted and still not as fast as we should be, but it just seems like that’s how our year has been. We just don’t have the luck on our side. We had a good car today and don’t have anything to show for it.”

ERIK DARNELL – No. 96 Northern Tool + Equipment Ford Fusion (Finished 30th) – “It was a frustrating day. We fought it all day and were just too tight. Track position is real important here and we just didn’t have it, so it was a real learning experience out there today. This race was actually tougher than Atlanta because at least when you’re there as a driver you can have some control over your car. Here, track position is so important that if you didn’t have it, you couldn’t make up any ground.”
