News CenterBiography: Pim van der Jagt
In February 2009, Professor Dr. Pim van der Jagt was appointed Managing Director of the Ford Research Center Aachen. In addition to this role, he keeps his position as Executive Technical Leader for Vehicle Dynamics which he has held since 2007. In this role, he has assumed the responsibility for all vehicle dynamics technologies worldwide and cross brand. This includes the development and implementation of active safety systems into the Ford products.
Prior to this function, Pim was appointed Manager of Global Advanced Vehicle Dynamics in 2003. When he joined Ford Motor Company in 1996, Pim served as Staff Technical Specialist for Vehicle Dynamics and then as Manager of Vehicle Integration & Manufacturing.
Previous to Ford, Pim worked for the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company. At Goodyear he worked in the Tire Engineering Technology Department, first in Luxembourg and then later at Goodyear’s primary Technical Center in Akron, Ohio. In his work, Pim studied tire-vehicle interaction by means of computer simulation and instrumented vehicle testing.
Pim van der Jagt obtained a M.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering with a specialization in Vehicle Engineering from the Delft University of Technology in 1987. He continued at the Vehicle Research Laboratory for two additional years to work on the analysis and evaluation of ABS control algorithms in a project sponsored by Volvo Car BV. In 2000, Pim received his PhD. from Eindhoven University of Technology for his thesis on the topic of Vehicle Dynamics CAE. In 2008 he was named a Visiting Professor at the Loughborough University of Technology in England.
He was born in Rotterdam, Netherland, in 1963.
