Job Description Core design engineer for body electronics modules. Main function of the electronic modules is for motor control for such functions as power liftgate, window control, mirror movement and seat movement control. Complete responsibility for all hardware attributes (mechanical and electronic) and shared responsibility for software attributes. Position requires knowledge and understanding of small motor control theory and specific electronic module design work.
Lead tradeoff analysis of features (Classic Memory Feature) to meet cost, weight, quality, HMI and energy management targets.
Lead hardware design development.
Lead system analysis to determine best solution for electronics module drive and motor type and technology.
Lead selection of ECU’s for the specific electrical architecture and feature partitioning and assure compliance to all subsystem, component and cascaded requirements.
Lead compatibility reviews to verify all module and wiring interfaces correct.
Lead technical design reviews at engineering milestones.
Support development of the in-plant end-of-line configuration files and support pre-build verification.
Support all prototype and in-plant build events as required - lead resolution of design and manufacturing issues.
Lead development of applicable SDS requirements.
Lead development of ECU ED&T targets.
Lead development of perfect drawing plan in support of GPDS timing.
Lead failure mode analysis, DFMEA subsystem development and support component DFMEA.
Lead development of subsystem functional test procedures as well as DV/PV plans.
Quality Lead for the responsible electronic module(s) for improving quality and functionality.
Define and develop quality improvement actions based on analysis of TGW claims, field returns testing and analysis, warranty claims, customer interviews, customer clinics – identify root cause(s) and develop corrective actions. Lead and implement short term and long term actions, working with cross-functional engineering teams.
Perform benchmarking to determine BIC quality and function of competitive vehicle systems.
Lead all module failure mode avoidance development including subsystem DFMEA development, In-flight reviews and providing input from current module/system experiences.
Lead development of cross carline 6 Panel for global core ECUs.
Lead benchmarking.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s in Engineering or Computer Science
2+ years electrical system-related experience
Preferred Qualifications:
MSEE from an accredited college or university
2+ years’ automotive OEM design and small control experience
Experience as a Design and Release engineer in all product lifecycle areas: concept design, hardware and software analysis, eFDVS, DV, PV, PPAP/PSW, etc.
Knowledge of Ford processes, methods, product life cycle, quality, warranty, etc.
Strong Automotive Systems level and Module Design experience; from design of the system board to the introduction of additional add on components for various vehicle features
Strong troubleshooting and problem resolution skill and experience with both automotive systems and diagnostic systems and software
Excellent analytical problem solving skills.
Ability to perform multiple tasks using many different processes and tools.
