Program Manager

Ford Connected Vehicle Products & Platform is responsible for innovation and delivery of connectivity features on Ford’s SYNC Connect in-vehicle telematics platform globally. The Program Manager will ensure development and execution of robust work plans, incorporating program deliverables for vehicle, cloud and mobile app implementations from teams internal to Ford and from Ford partners.

Job Responsibilities include:
  • Develop and integrate global implementation plans and milestones for SYNC Connect features across multiple vehicle programs through coordination with cross-functional teams in Product Development, Mobility, Marketing, IT, Vehicle Operations, Sales and Service and Ford Partners.
  • Partner with Vehicle Programs, Component Design & Release Engineers, Product Managers, Program Managers and Functional Leads on release scope, timing requirements and constraints for SYNC and SYNC Connect feature rollout.
  • Manage and provide leadership and oversight to all teams to ensure governance processes are properly established and consistently followed, with the right processes, tools, resources and techniques to execute goals and deliver business value.
  • Lead the program team through Gate reviews to ensure all criteria for passing gates are complete
  • Chunk program into sub-components (i.e., releases/iterations) to deliver identified business functionality and ensure linkage to CTQs and make recommendations
  • Actively manage cross-functional program teams thru regular meetings, agenda and status reports. Communicate program status, issues and risks to respective program stakeholders.
Required Qualification:
  • BA/BS in any science, business or engineering discipline.
  • 10+ years managing large enterprise programs including experience managing multiple concurrent large enterprise programs requiring extensive x-functional integration.
Preferred Qualification:
  • MS or MBA in any science, business or engineering discipline
  • PMP certification or other industry recognized project management certifications
  • Strong communications skills with the ability to effectively liaison between multiple cross functional managers.
  • Broad understanding of embedded modem architecture components and development milestones, vehicle CAN signal analysis milestones, antenna and packaging design and development milestones, cloud connectivity and integration milestones, backend enterprise systems integration milestones and mobile applications integration to cloud-car-backend IT milestones to develop x-functional program level gives / gets and project planning.
  • Thorough understanding of GPDS and QPIP11C methodologies for engineering design and development
  • Thorough understanding of SDM, Unified and Agile methodologies for IT/ Cloud design and development
  • Knowledge and experience with systems engineering fundamentals and quality / reliability methods including FMEAs and DVP&Rs, for both in-vehicle and off-board systems
  • Strong analytical, leadership and interpersonal skills; team-oriented.
  • Strong written and oral skills - able to clearly convey complex blends of business and technical matters to a range of audiences.
  • Effective time management and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to construct quality work plans and deliverables from minimal definitions and to work on multiple assignments simultaneously.
  • Creative in quickly developing approaches to problems and recommending actions to management, including implementation of suggested recommendations.
  • Self-starter and highly motivated; Uses sound business judgment and exhibits leadership qualities.
