Job Description Automotive features evolved from component functionality to complex, software based, networked, on and off board systems with distributed functionality. Complexity nature of advanced distributed features will further increase. In order to address the challenges, a top-down requirements driven system design needs to be applied consistently, and the specification of distributed features has to be correct and concise across multiple domains and technologies.
This position is to assess the quality of Feature/Function specifications and the feature development practices used by feature owners at Ford Product Development, as well as provide feature owners support in developing requirements. It focuses on improving the Feature and Function specification quality by applying Requirement Engineering process, templates & tools, and promoting a peer review culture.
Responsibilities
Educate feature owners about the Requirement Engineering process at Ford Product Development.
Use Requirement Engineering guidelines, tools and checklists to evaluate quality of specifications and supporting documents.
Emphasize the importance of local SME peer-reviews at each stage of the development cycle and review evidence of such reviews
Verify critical design aspects such as Robustness, Fault Handling, Diagnostics, Power and Operational modes as well as Network Interfaces are considered during requirement development.
Verify that Feature Owners integrate Lessons Learned in the feature design process, and FMA/FMEA results are fed back into the feature/function specification as measureable requirements.
Assess the quality of development processes relative to feature verification & validation plan and test specifications. Confirm proper verification and test coverage has been identified. Verify test specification sign-off from key stakeholders.
Support Feature Change Governance meeting and conduct risk assessment for feature requirement changes.
Develop standard design aid/design checklists to be used during development and subsequent peer review of the specifications.
Provide hands-on support and coaching to the feature owners on developing critical areas in feature and function specification documents
Willing to relocate to South East Michigan
Required Qualifications:
Bachelors of Science in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science or a related technical discipline.
3+ year experience on specification/requirement development for Automotive applications
Preferred Qualifications:
Working knowledge on Requirement Engineering processes and tools
Working Experience in systems architecture design (bottom-up, top-down, functional decomposition, reusability, etc.).
Experience in the software development and embedded design/applications for the automotive domain.
Knowledge of Automotive communication networks (CAN/ LIN, etc.).
Knowledge of Model-Based System Engineering languages for requirement capture and information model development (SysML, UML, Simulink, etc.) (preferred).
Experience in software quality assurance (preferred).
Experience with software testing methods (preferred).
