Job Description/Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Statistician and Manager to lead a team of 5-6 statisticians in all phases of statistical model development, evaluation, and deployment of forecasting credit losses for Ford Credit globally.

Responsibilities


Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Lead a team of 5-6 statisticians/econometricians. Provide technical guidance to junior and senior GSR and agency analysts
  • Engage with customers to understand their business problems and develop sound analytic solutions and models.
  • Provide direction to analysts on statistical procedures to develop:
    • Portfolio level forecasts of credit losses using survival analysis and origination risk assessment models
    • Portfolio and contract level macro-economic models to predict probability of default, probability of loan payoff and loss given default.
    • Supporting models for expected credit loss forecasting for IFRS9 (International Financial Reporting Standards version 9) and US GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles)
  • Provide direction to analysts to develop tracking methodologies and reports to monitor model accuracy and evaluate performance.
  • Provide direction to analysts to prepare analysis to back-test and compare competing methodologies.
  • Review models, including model documentation, model results, and code
  • Communicate and present models to business customers and executives.
  • Direct variance analysis to explain changes from model to model and in issue to issue forecasts. Communicate variance analysis to business customers and executives
  • Ensure good model governance practices are satisfied including review and signoff on quarterly adequacy binder, ensure desk procedures are maintained and followed, and data retention standards are met
  • May involve some model development including extracting data from various data sources and platforms (PC, Mainframe, Unix/Linux, Teradata).
  • Exceptional People Leadership:
    • Recruit & Onboard New Team Members: Follow appropriate internal/external hiring processes, build a team of appropriately-leveled team members who are ‘smart, nice & curious.’ Onboard and orient team members to GDI&A and Ford.
    • Develop/Nurture/Grow individual and team capabilities: Set expectations, provide regular feedback, hold accountable and reward /recognize team members. Ensure all development and performance conversations are robust and input as appropriate into CNav.
    • “Give back” to the GDI&A Function: i.e. PDC membership, mentoring, sharing technical knowledge, campus recruiting, etc.


Job Requirements:

Basic Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree Statistics/Biostatistics/Econometrics/Economics or related quantitative field
  • 3+ years of supervisory experience to include leading people
  • 5+ years of experience conducting statistical analysis in business or industrial environment
  • 3+ years of experience in regression analysis in one or more of the following statistical programming languages: SAS, R, Python or similar statistical programming languages/packages


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in auto or auto finance company is a plus
  • Experience in maximum likelihood estimation, linear and non-linear modeling, causal inference, longitudinal analysis, time series forecasting and survival analysis
  • Ability to translate complex quantitative methods into easily understood results for all levels of business customers
  • Experience leading a technical team is a plus
  • Ability to provide direction to team on multiple projects within a given timeframe
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Experience using SQL
  • Experience with Microsoft EXCEL, PowerPoint and Word
