JPosition Overview/Description:  
This is a Sr. Software Engineering Manager role to lead the integrated application architecture and design of the Ford Smart Mobility Microtransit software products.
 
The successful candidate will be working with global teams within Ford Smart Mobility Products and Platform organization to design and implements solutions that support the business goal of aggressively pursuing emerging opportunities in connectivity, mobility, autonomous vehicles, customer experience, as well as alternative mobility solutions.
 
Responsibilities:  
 
  • As a Sr. Software Engineering Manager you will be lead the engineering and technical governance of the integrated application design and API inventory spanning multiple teams that deliver end to end features from conception into production.
  • This position will ensure that the flow of new demand is analyzed from an integrated design perspective and dispositioned effectively into a manageable end to end components for technical product delivery.  You will have responsibility for management of integrated application design across multiple product teams and to ensure external dependencies are aligned and managed across the organization.
  • Drive maturity of the Microtransit software delivery product teams with a particular focus on Software Craftsmanship, TDD and CI/CD while minimizing external dependencies through creation of micro-services.
  • In addition to the primary application architecture and design responsibilities you will lead product delivery of one or more teams focused on enablers and re-use for all other teams.  Each Product Team generally consists of 4-6 Full stack Software engineers, a Product Manager and an Anchor Engineer.
  • You will be responsible to manage development within your own team and manage the integration of external product services to deliver fully integrated end-to-end solutions.
  • Interface with Business IT and business owners to prioritize new demand and functional capabilities
  • Innovate New Product concepts and deliver Proof-of-Concepts
  • Deliver new production features and support launched features
 
Job Requirements:

Basic Qualifications:  
 
  • Bachelor’s Degree 
  • 5+ years in a leadership role with a blend of deep technical application design/delivery and the following:
    • Leadership:  5+ years in a technical lead role managing application architecture/design and integration across multiple technical product teams
    • Software Engineering:  5+ years with Java development leveraging agile delivery methodologies spanning on-prem and cloud-based environments.
    • Global:  1+ years managing delivery and integration within in global environment (Minimal North America, Europe and Asia Pacific)
    • Product:  1+ years managing engineering and development of commercial software products
    • Influence and alignment:  5+ years leading cross-functional technical alignments of multiple priorities across internal and external stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications:
 
  • 7+years of leadership experience in design, development and/or support of global commercial software products
  • 4+ years acting in consultant level position related to technical product management
  • Perform at the high level of leadership and maturity, possessing strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to present and influence technical alignments across all levels of teams and executive management
  • The ability to adjust communications appropriately for the audience; work with all levels of management and diverse work groups
  • A passion for the products in the mobility landscape.
  • Comfortable navigating unknowns and aggressive in driving for cultural change
  • Motivated and self-starter  
  • Experience in managing cross-functional technical design and delivery dependencies across large scale complex programs
