Position Description/Overview

We are seeking exceptional candidates to join our growing autonomous vehicle (AV) business team! Autonomous vehicles are an important part of Ford’s future and we are looking for the best and brightest. The role will require enterprise-wide critical thinking, leading cross-functional professionals, and a “get it done” attitude to help make strategic decisions that will enable Ford to be a leader in autonomy, connectivity, mobility, customer experience, and analytics. As the Autonomous Vehicle Brand Lead, you lead the development of a district Autonomous Vehicle brand for Ford as we execute business pilots with multiple external partners across different commercial applications.

Key Responsibilities:
  • In concert with the Company Brand skill team, develop a brand strategy for the Autonomous Vehicles; this includes the setting what the brand stands for and represents, brand guidelines, brand vision and value proposition for short as well as long term
  • Responsible for ensuring that Autonomous Vehicle products, services and partnerships resonate with current and potential customers
  • Continuously monitor marketing trends and abreast of competitive actions in the marketplace
  • Serve as the point-person for developing, implementing and executing brand initiatives and activities for Autonomous Vehicles; these initiatives and activities may include campaigns (print, web, social media, broadcast, etc.), events, corporate responsibility programs and sponsorships
  • Collaborate with marketing and advertising agencies to make sure they’re respecting the brand purpose and guidelines throughout every communication and activity
  • Work closely with many teams, including product developers, researchers, marketing personnel and creative agencies to make sure their company brand values and image are followed; ensure seamless cooperation by and between partners, consultancies and in-house marketing departments
  • Draw on the consumer research and monitor market trends with a grasp of target market and potential target markets
  • Evaluate reactions to marketing campaigns; monitor discourse on social media and how are people talking about the brand
  • Create and manage promotional collateral to establish and maintain product branding
  • Analyze sales forecasts and relevant financials to evaluate the business impact and efficacy of the brand
  • Develop a culture of creativity and accountability – solve problems in new ways while keeping organizational commitments; establish appropriate cadence for reviews to maintain progress and resolve issues, all while maintaining an agile and adaptive working style promoting initiative, accountability, and quick iteration learning and revision
  • Challenge actively (constructively) and voice relevant concerns; coach and teach others on the team to engage constructively in meetings and encourage vibrant discourse
  • Develop and mentor staff through on-boarding, open communication, as well as training and development opportunities; build and maintain employee morale and motivation; ensure the team is appropriately staffed with required competencies; foster a diverse and inclusive workplace
Job Requirements:
Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree
5+ years of progressive experience in brand management
5+ Experience leading and delivering large scale, complex brand strategies


Preferred Qualifications:
  • MBA desired, with a concentration in Marketing preferred
  • Exceptional ability to think creatively and innovatively
  • Professional judgment and discretion that comes from years of experience in the field
  • Analytical skills to forecast and identify trends and challenges
  • Comfortable working in white-space emerging business areas dependent on innovation, creativity, and testing new business models that are new to the Company, and new to our industry
  • Comfortable leading in a highly matrixed organization with internal and external stakeholders, many of whom are not in a direct reporting line relationship
  • Excellent project leadership skills to drive topics with multiple stakeholders/interests
  • Ability to confidently communicate and assist in effective negotiation with external partners
  • Strong research and analytical skills
  • Know when and how to communicate (email, presentation, face to face, collaboration tools, etc.) to maintain alignment between team members, project executives and project stakeholders in a dynamic, geographically distributed and culturally diverse organization
