Position Overview/Description:

We are looking for a seasoned Wide Area Network (WAN) Transport practitioner responsible for planning and implementing solutions, adds, moves, and changes to the Global Ford WAN Transport Infrastructure.
You will partner with Fulfillment Planning Teams to frame the right questions and design data networks that lead us to new insights. With your creative and analytical mind, you will use key insights to frame new opportunity spaces and guide the vision for our future network infrastructure. You will guide and oversee network work throughout the process. You will relentlessly advocate a human centric perspective through all stages of the design and implementation process. As a team player, you will create impact by collaborating across the Fulfillment Planning organization and with key work partners throughout the company.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop solution sets to provide data network services for Ford entities.
  • Provide project interface for domestic and international data transport services.
  • Develop data network architectures considering existing network infrastructure.
  • Implement services to ensure successful launches of network solutions.
  • Evaluate and select transport technology.
  • Maintain contact with suppliers to gain knowledge about new network services and equipment.
  • Monitor and specify requirements to ensure compliance of international regulatory network guidelines.
  • Develop solutions to share communication facilities among different Ford entities.
  • Provide technical guidance to business groups that require the use of transport services.
  • Perform funding processes with customers and finance departments.
  • Collaborate with Fulfillment Planning team to inform primary project tracking.
  • For key projects, track, facilitate, and lead design and technology teams through visioning and Interface with Business IT and business owners to prioritize improvement efforts
  • (design thinking) exercises/workshops.
  • Interface with Business IT and business owners to prioritize improvement efforts
  • Guide and oversee holistic experience vision and design solutions from service provider selection to data circuit delivery, leading WAN Transport team throughout the process.
  • Guide and develop scenarios and sketches, communicate vision through tangible artifacts (storyboards, presentations) from early to late stage concept development.
  • Ensure overall quality of project solutions throughout the design process.
  • Share and present work to cross-functional teams and executive leadership.
Job Requirements:

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 4+ years of experience in data communications planning and/or network operations.
  • 3+ years of experience with WAN transport carriers with solid understanding of networking fundamentals (Including Ethernet, TCP/IP, and LANs), transport alternatives, disaster recovery, fault tolerant design, and international standards.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven ability to develop network solutions in a creative and collaborative manner.
  • Works well within a team of technical and business professionals.
  • Delivers results under pressure in an ever-changing environment.
  • Experience with IT Project Manager Microsoft office tools (Excel, Word, MS Project)
  • Ability to work with minimal direction, escalation, independently, effectively and as part of a team. Demonstrate the ability and flexibility to work in a team setting and be able to lead a team when necessary.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with business users and IT professionals including globally distributed teams; the ability to adjust communications appropriately for the audience; work with all levels of management and diverse work groups
