Job Description
Ford Motor Company's Global Data, Insight, and Analytics (GDI&A) is looking for seasoned analytic professionals that have a deep business understanding of data science. You will have the opportunity to work with some of the brightest global subject matter experts that are transforming the automobile industry.

The role delivers world-class data and analytics tools to Ford Commercial Solutions (FCS), whose vision is to be a world-class provider of connected vehicle services for Ford commercial customers. These tools or solutions enable a fleet manager to effectively operate a fleet of vehicles, with the objective of maximizing vehicle uptime while minimizing cost. The solutions apply to a wide area of applications: vehicle acquisition, financing, insurance and driver behavior, product/service delivery, reporting and real-time monitoring, maintenance and repair, compliance, fleet performance measurement, and remarketing. More specifically, these solutions include vehicle selection tool, driver score, uptime metrics, scheduling/dispatching and routing, geofencing, time- and/or mile-based alerts, prognostics and diagnostics, driver and vehicle compliance, and time-to-dispose planning tool.

The role requires understanding of vehicle systems and data, including connected vehicle data, and of various data collection and transmission protocols. Merging vehicle data with other data including driver, environmental (e.g., ambient temperature, grade, congestion), and operational (e.g., dispatch and schedule) are normal routines performed in the role. Creating actionable solutions involves processing large volumes of data, visualizing, developing models from statistical (e.g., clustering) to predictive (e.g., logistic) to econometric (e.g., cross-sectional and panel data analysis), generating buy-in from business customer, and deploying and making the solutions accessible through, for example, APIs.



The role is expected to practice agile methods of product delivery, and flexibility to adopt to different engagement models, including collaborating with product teams. This expectation may also involve developing solution prototypes, and quickly assessing customer feedback and value.


Responsibilities

  • Working with product and cross-functional teams, ideate data and analytics solutions for FCS fleet customers
  • Working with GDI&A Data Operations and other cross-functional teams, source, merge, and prepare data for solutions development
  • Prototype the solutions to quickly generate customer feedback and assess customer value
  • Communicate the solutions and generate buy-in from business customers
  • Develop and scale the solutions to full-production grade
  • Working with product and cross-functional teams, deploy the solutions in-vehicle, in the cloud, in a batch environment, or in multiple environments
  • Develop a validation strategy and validate the solutions on a regular basis

Job Requirements:
Basic Qualifications:

  • B.A./B.S. in Electrical, Mechanical or Chemical Engineering, Physics, Computer Science or Engineering, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Operations Research
  • 2+ years in automotive engineering with experience in vehicle software/system architecture
  • 2+ years in data science, developing models that drive business decision or influence customer behavior

Preferred Qualifications

  • M.A./M.S or Ph.D. in Electrical, Mechanical or Chemical Engineering, Physics, Computer Science or Engineering, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Operations Research
  • 3+ years in automotive engineering with experience in vehicle software/system architecture
  • 3+ years in data science, in a fleet management analytics role developing tools like driver score, uptime metrics, and diagnostic and prognostic models
  • A passion for constant learning and innovation

  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills and leadership behaviors
