Our diverse Global Experience Design Team – situated in greater Detroit, Palo Alto, London, Shanghai, Melbourne, Camacari - is comprised of experience strategists, researchers, interaction designers, visual designers, industrial designers, motion and audio designers, content creators, prototypers, and project managers. Together our team works to understand our changing world, identify new opportunities, and take action to design and innovate for the future of mobility – Ford’s vehicles and surrounding experiences.
We are looking for a strategic thinker with hands on design experience to help envision and design future mobility experiences. You will partner with Experience Design researchers to frame the right questions and design research programs that lead us to new insights. You may also participate in the creation of the assets for this research, which could include story-boards or low-fidelity prototypes. You will conduct trend and cultural research to understand possible future scenarios. As part of a multi-disciplinary team, you will use key insights to frame new opportunity spaces and guide the experience vision for our future global customers. You will advocate a human centric perspective through all stages of the design process and have strong visual communication skills.
Responsibilities:
Contribute to Experience Design vision and concepting exercises/workshops (including deep dives into particular consumer segments, emerging cultural trends, and advanced technologies especially related to connectivity, intelligent systems, mobility and more)
Collaborate with Experience Design research team to design research programs that will inform key project tracks
Contribute to the creation of design research assets or stimuli
Participate in user research and secondary research activities
Synthesize, frame, and communicate experience design opportunities
Identify strategic Experience Design metrics at the project level, and track and document progress for a variety of stakeholders
Contribute to tools, processes, best practices and templates/frameworks for the Experience Design team
Share trends, strategic perspectives, concepts with the Global Experience Design team and key work partners to further develop consumer-centered strategies that align with Ford’s vision, goals, vehicles, services and markets
Skills:
Expertise in user-centered design methods
Experience with various prototyping and design tools to develop appropriate assets at various levels of fidelity
Experience planning and facilitating visioning workshops and brainstorming sessions
Experience collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams across all aspects of human centered design methods
Strong ability to understand, empathize with and bring together various perspectives
Ability to balance big ideas with the detailed activities to achieve them
Creative problem solving and strong written and visual communication skills
Strong ability to frame experience opportunities and prioritize activities
Strong self-direction and sense of responsibility; exhibiting a high-level of professionalism and attention to detail
Experience guiding scenario development as a platform for storytelling
Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office apps
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree
2+ years experience as hands-on HCD practitioner (e.g. experience designer, interaction designer, researcher, experience design strategist) creating user experiences for digital and/or product – mobile, web, software, services, automotive
Preferred Qualifications:
5+ experience as hands-on HCD practitioner (e.g. experience designer, interaction designer, researcher, experience design strategist) creating user experiences for digital and/or product – mobile, web, software, physical + digital, automotive
Experience contributing to/participating in user research (ethnographic research, contextual inquiry, participatory design, concept testing, usability testing)
Ability to mentor others in human centered design, workshop activities, and research methods
Proven track record of working in dynamic, diverse, fast paced environments across multiple projects on schedule and with quality
High energy and passion for understanding consumer and technology trends, safety, mobility enablers, and autonomous vehicles
Portfolio demonstrating qualifications
